KISII – Senator Essy Okenyuri has strongly condemned the alleged violation and brutal killing of two young children in Bomorenda Ward, Bonchari Constituency, describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that has shocked the nation.
The two children, aged four and five, were reportedly found dead in Nkura Village, leaving residents and leaders calling for justice and greater protection of children.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Kisii senator said the incident reflects a disturbing trend of violence against vulnerable members of society and challenged communities to reaffirm their responsibility to protect children.
“It is extremely difficult to comprehend how, as a society, we have descended to a point where our children—the very embodiment of innocence and our hope for tomorrow—become victims of such unimaginable cruelty,” Okenyuri said.
The senator questioned how society could allow children, who depend entirely on adults for love, care and protection, to become victims of such horrific acts. She stressed that no circumstance could ever justify violence against children.
Okenyuri conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, saying no parent should have to endure the pain of losing a child under such tragic circumstances. She also prayed for strength and comfort for the affected families as they mourn their loss.
She urged investigative agencies to treat the matter with the urgency it deserves by conducting thorough investigations, apprehending those responsible and ensuring that justice is served without delay.
The senator further called on communities to remain vigilant and work together to safeguard children by reporting warning signs early and promoting an environment where every child can grow up in safety and dignity.
She concluded by praying for the souls of the two children, expressing hope that they would rest in eternal peace.
