Sengereri, Nyamira County — Water Resources Authority Director Jared Ongwae played a central role in mobilizing support as Sengereri SDA Church successfully raised more than KSh 1.4 million during a high-profile fundraising event on April 4.
The occasion drew large crowds to the usually quiet village, creating a vibrant atmosphere as leaders, friends, and well-wishers from across the region and beyond converged to back the church project.Ongwae’s wide network was clearly evident, with the event attracting senior government officials, elected leaders, and heads of major institutions.
Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migos Ogamba was represented, while Principal Secretary for Public Health Mary Muthoni who also serves as National Jamii Imara Mashinani leader sent her support.
Contributions also came from several Members of Parliament and other officials, including:Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi ,Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi ,Alego Usonga MP Samwel Atandi ,Solicitor General Shadrack Mose and Kisii University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ogechi
Institutional leaders who backed the drive included Geothermal Development Company Chairman Walter Nyambati Omosacha, Lake Victoria South Water Works CEO Jackline Momanyi, and Development Bank Chairman Michael Nyachae.
Academic representation featured Dr. James Onsando, Chairman of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, alongside Peter Kereri of the University of Eldoret and David Oyugi of JOOUST.
Other notable supporters present or who sent contributions were Josephine Omanwa (Kenya Dairy Board), Hellen Makone and Theresa Bitutu (LBDA), Purity Kirera (Bomas of Kenya), Mr. Sagero (Nairobi Rivers), Lilian Mogendi (NTSA), Director Ayienda, Marine and Fisheries CEO Paul Orina, and Kisii MCA Gaudence Omariba.
Political aspirants in attendance included Nyamira gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Walter Chanua, Kitutu Masaba MP aspirant Cliff Ogwora, Jamii Imara Mashinani National Office representative Walter Mounde, Kitutu Chache North senatorial aspirant Hon. Stephen Nyarangi, and Nyamira MCA Madam Marwa, among many other friends and supporters.
Organizers hailed the overwhelming turnout and generous contributions as a strong demonstration of unity and shared commitment to community development.
The event not only surpassed its fundraising target but also helped strengthen bonds among leaders and residents.
Addressing the gathering, Jared Ongwae took time to explain key government priorities and appealed for continued support for President William Ruto’s administration and its development agenda.
